Facebook releases user data to US government
Facebook reveals it handed over information about its users to the U.S. government, thousands of times.
Facebook’s general counsel says it complied with nearly 10,000 requests for user data in just the last half of 2012.
Those requests ran the gamut from a local sheriff trying to find a missing child, to national security officials investigating a terrorist threat.
Facebook says a tiny fraction of its 1 billion users were affected.
