Sentencing in deadly DUI boat crash

The man who pleaded guilty to running over a Libertyville boy with his boat is being sentenced Thursday in Lake County.

David Hatyina faces probation to 14 years in prison.

Prosecutors say he was drunk and had cocaine in his system when his boat hit and killed 10-year-old Tony Borcia last summer on the Chain O’Lakes.

The boy was riding on a tube behind a boat his father was driving.

Hatyina pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI after prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of reckless homicide.

Only up to 14 years for killing someone? An eye for an eye.
