Severe weather barreled through Illinois and Indiana yesterday.

The people of Manteno, Illinois are cleaning up after a tornado.

The storm crushed a barn last night with 10 show ponies inside. The prize mare was killed in the destruction.  Neighbors helped pull the rest to safety.

Elsewhere in the state, straight-line winds flattened a church that was just being built and was 75 percent completed, but not a single person was hurt.

Powerful winds damaged a giant grain silo in DeKalb County.

Storms with high winds and heavy hail also toppled power lines in Indiana.

State Road 2 was closed this morning between US 231 and I-65 in parts of Lake and Porter Counties.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says it could be three days before the road reopens.
