On tonight’s WGN News, we’re heading 60 miles from Chicago to Plano, Illinois. Warner Bros., director Zack Snyder and company turned the city’s historic downtown into Smallville – Clark Kent’s hometown in MAN OF STEEL. They shot the Smallville scenes in Plano back in the summer of 2011, and after nearly two years of waiting, the town will finally get its close up when the movie opens this weekend.
We went down to talk with Mayor Bob Hausler and local business owners about how the production impacted the community of about 12,000 people. Last year they held their first ever Smallville SuperFest. They’ll be hosting it again this August 16-18. You can find more information on their website – smallvillesuperfest.com.
