Plainfield district beefs up building security with new alarms
Plainfield District 202 will install $180,000 worth of new wireless alarms in all of its buildings this summer
The alarm system is in response to a need to protect students and faculty from violent intruders.
If a gunman were to enter one of the schools at Plainfield, the principal could press an electronic button attached to a lanyard around her neck.
An office worker could also tap a wireless panic button located underneath a desk.
At the same time, police would be alerted.
Officials said it is an effective way to improve security.
