Chrysler refusing recall of Jeep SUV’s
For the first time since 1966, a major automaker is refusing a federal recall order affecting almost 3-million SUV’s.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the gas tank design in 1993 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and in 2002 to 2007 Jeep Libertys is faulty and unsafe.
Chrysler says it’s a commonly accepted tank design and used in many other vehicles.
They also claim the fatal accidents were almost all high-speed and a different design would not have made a difference.
