Boy attacked by dogs on south side

A child is recovering in a hospital after two dogs attacked him on the south side.

According to the Chicago Fire Dept, a 3-year-old boy was mauled by two pit bulls near 73rd St and S. Kingston Ave.

The boy, who is from Mississsippi, was with his siblings at their aunt’s house when her dogs attacked in their yard.  The woman was at the store at the time.  When she returned she found a neighbor. 48-year-old Willie Riley, chasing the dogs away with a stick.

The woman brought the boy into a nearby fire station.  The boy had injuries to his ears, neck, torso and legs.

He was treated at the fire station and then taken to the hospital where he is expected to survive.

Chicago Fire Department Captain, Bob Martin, believes the boy may have died without the help of Riley.
