Showers and thunderstorms are still expected across much of the Chicago area late this afternoon and tonight; however, the threat of organized or widespread severe weather for the metro region has decreased.
The Flash Flood Watch for the Chicago area has been trimmed back significantly and is no longer in effect for Cook, DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, McHenry and Kendall counties.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for some southern suburbs as well as portions of northwest Indiana.
While the threat of widespread severe weather has diminished locally, an isolated or widely scattered strong to severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out.
