Unique memorial honors IL 9/11 service members

A new, highly unique memorial is honoring Illinois  service members who died during the 9/11 attacks.

Governor Pat Quinn unveiled  the “Portrait of a Soldier exhibit on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway on I-90 which features portraits of most of the 306 Illinois men and women who were killed.

The portraits drawn by artist Cameron Schilling of Matoon will be on display until June 2.

The exhibit will travel to the different tollway oases from Memorial Day until Independence Day.
