Person in custody in Hammond coin store robbery

A person is in custody in connection with the robbery of a Hammond, Indiana coin store

Officials say a viewer who saw the WGN story on the robbery Monday night called the police saying he recognized the suspect on the security camera video.

The suspect allegedly came into J & J coin store disguised as a UPS delivery man and pulled out a gun and tied up an employee on the floor.

Hammond Police executed a search warrant this morning at a home in Gary, Indiana.

Police say they found some of the store’s stolen property and the suspect in the home.

Officials will be bringing this case to the Lake County Prosecutor`s office.

They expect charges will be filed on Thursday.
