Chicagoans will be ready to go when they get the call to help victims of the Oklahoma tornado.
The Red Cross of Greater Chicago has some 3,000 volunteers on standby.
Red Cross spokeswoman Martha Carlos says they can offer specialized skills which include setting up shelters, logistics and mental health services.
The Oklahoma Red Cross is still assessing its needs before contacting the Chicago office.
Carlos says she expects area volunteers will head out to Oklahoma today.
