Thunderstorms, severe weather headed for Chicago-area

A severe thunderstorm watch will be in effect for much of the Chicago area until 3 a.m. for much of the Chicago area.

A cluster of thunderstorms is headed for the Chicago area. The storms have a history of gusty winds and hail. They will be moving into the south and west portions of the  Chicago area by 10-10:30 pm with the potential for hail, gusty winds and heavy downpours.   Some affected cities include Yorkville, Sugar Grove, Shorewood, Oswego, Montgomery,  Boulder, North Aurora and Plainfield.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been also issued for north and central Cook, southeast Dupage, eastern Kendall and northwest will counties as severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds move in from the southwest.
