Debit card phone scam targets Park Ridge

PoliceLights400x225If you receive an automated message from a private number asking for your account information, you may be the victim of a scam.

Some customers in Park Ridge are receiving automated phone calls saying their bank accounts have been breached.

The calls appear as private numbers on caller ID, and customers are asked to enter the account number, expiration date and the debit card’s three-digit security code to gain access to their account again according to Park Ridge Police.

Banks already have this information and would never use automated systems to notify customers of an account breach police said.

Heh, I actually had a voice mail from these scammers on my work phone in Downers Grove, IL. They called me at 4:50 pm, 5/16. Number shows as (0000000000) and it was a female robot voice, but I knew it was a scam from the second is started. Hopefully not too many people fell for this garbage…..
