Massive CTA reconstruction on Red Line to begin SundayFriday is the last morning commute before the CTA shuts down the south end of the Red Line.

The five month project begins Sunday morning; that’s when the Red Line, from Cermak to 95th, will be shut down for a full replacement.

Red Line trains will switch to the Green Line, after the Roosevelt stop.

Free shuttle buses are being provided to help with the transition.

But all of that should add extra time to Red Line riders’ commutes.

Mayor Emanuel helped spread the word about the project by passing out flyers at the 95th stop.
