Teachers union plans to file federal suits to stop school closings
The union’s decision comes a week after retired federal judges opposed 13 of the school closings. CPS had hired the ex-judges to conduct state-mandated public hearings and to make recommendations.
The CPS Board of Education is to vote on the closings May 22.
CTU will hold a press conference to discuss the lawsuits at 2 p.m. today at the law offices of Despres, Schwartz and Geoghegan, 77 W. Washington St.
