MINNEAPOLIS — Paul Konerko returned Wednesday to the Chicago White Sox’s lineup Wednesday after a two-game break.

But the biggest revival was that of Adam Dunn, who slugged two home runs that vaulted the Sox to a 9-4 win over the Minnesota Twins.

The nine runs were a season-high for the Sox.

Dunn rallied the Sox from a 2-0 deficit by clobbering an 83 mph off-speed pitch from Mike Pelfrey for a two-run home run in the third inning, and Dayan Viciedo hit an opposite field home run to right in the fourth.

The Twins rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Matt Thornton induced Justin Morneau to hit a check-swing grounder in front of home plate for the final out with the tying run at second.

Jeff Keppinger extended the Sox’s lead with a two-run double past third baseman Eduardo Escobar in the seventh, and Dunn crushed his second homer in the eighth that hit the back wall of the bullpen in left center.

This marked Dunn’s third homer in two games. This was the 35th multi-homer game of his career and the first of this season.

Dunn also hit an RBI double in the fifth. Keppinger had two hits to snap an 0-for-14 slump.

Sox starter Dylan Axelrod allowed eight of his nine hits in the first three innings before he was pulled after issuing a walk to Pedro Florimon with one out in the sixth. Axelrod suffered an apparent cramp in his right leg prior to starting the sixth, and he finished with 106 pitches.
