Daley nephew’s granted extension in trial for man’s death
Richard Vanecko, the nephew of former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, appeared before a Cook County judge and asked for an extension when it comes to reviewing hundreds of thousands of pages of documents.
Judge Maureen McIntyre agreed to the extension and a new status date of September 24th at 1:30 p.m. She also indicated that the special grand jury convening right now should wrap up by July.
That grand jury is exploring possible wrong doing by others on the night 21-year-old David Koschman was struck along Rush Street in Chicago. Koschman died 11 days later.
The judge also indicated that this case should plan for trial sometime in January or February of 2014.
Richard Vanecko, Daley’s nephew and the defendant, entered and left the courtroom without a word.
