Baby ejected during car accident in Near North

A baby was ejected from a vehicle during a crash in Chicago’s Near North neighborhood.

A semi trailer was driving north on Dearborn Street when it hit an SUV on Ohio Street.

Police say the semi ran a red light.

An 11-month-old girl was thrown from the SUV.

The baby was being held in the back seat by another passenger, instead of being strapped into a car seat.

She is in stable condition at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Police issued citations to the drivers of both vehicles.

Police cited the SUV driver for not having a valid driver’s license and for failing to restrain a children under the age of 4.
