President Obama honored the nation’s top police officers Saturday — including one from Chicago.

Officer Del Pearson was wounded in the line of duty and was honored by the president at a ceremony at the White House.

Pearson was shot in the chest while chasing a suspect in the 8400 block of South Kingston in March of last year.

He nearly died from his wounds.

On Saturday, he joined the dozens of other honorees from around the country in Washington.

The president asked Americans to support and thank those who put their lives on the line each day.
