An Indiana man wanted in a home invasion in Orland Park, apparently killed himself Friday night inside a home in East Chicago, Indiana.
Police said the initial incident started early Friday morning. A 30-year old man was home with his family, when two burglars broke into the home on the 10900 block of Antelope Lane.
Police say 27-year-old Anthony Espinoza and a second man stole jewelry and cash, and shot the 30-year-old victim during a confrontation in a bedroom.
The robbers got away in a silver PT Cruiser, driven by a third suspect. Despite three bullet wounds, the victim got into his van and chased them.
After losing sight of the getaway car, the victim pulled over near Interstate 80 and LaGrange Road where he saw a police car.
He is still being treated at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.
Police say officers later received a tip that Espinoza was hiding in a home in East Chicago.
Lake County Indiana Sheriff’s Gang Unit heard a single gunshot as they entered the home in East Chicago around 8 pm on Friday.
Espinoza was found inside, according to police, shot to death with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. An investigation is underway.
