Police in the northern suburbs have increased patrols after four incidents of adults trying to lure children have been reported.
While these incidents of child luring have reportedly only taken place in Highwood, police in both Highwood and Highland Park are on high alert.
With kidnappings in Ohio grabbing headlines in recent days, parents and police are on the lookout for suspicious adults preying on young children.
Police released sketches of possible predators who are “offering kids a ride.”
Last month, two incidents were reported outside Oak Terrace Elementary. On May 7th, a Northwood Junior High student was approached near a ballpark in Highwood. Yesterday, another Oak Terrace scare occurred when a woman in a minivan tried to coax a girl into taking ride.
In all cases, the kids refused. In all cases there was no contact. In all cases. the children reported the incidents to adults they trusted.
North Shore District 112 with students in both Highwood and Highland Park have heightened police patrols and teacher presence outdoors. They are also informing parents and asking parents to talk to their kids about “stranger danger.”
