A woman was killed just blocks from her South Shore home after her car collided with a police SUV during  what witnesses called a high speed car chase.

56-year-old Jackie Reynolds was on her way to a funeral this morning when her car was broadsided and bashed in.  Her friends were told she died instantly.  They say they can’t believe they said goodbye to Jackie for the last time. They’ve known the legal secretary who loved to exercise  for decades.

Sometime before the collision at 76th and Yates, police tell WGN there was a call about a home invasion two miles away in the 7800 block of South Ellis. Two suspects dragged a tenant back into her apartment at gunpoint and robbed the place. Then they took off.

And when police pursued them, Jackie Reynolds was killed.

Some witnesses say lights and sirens were sounding. Others can’t be sure. Just how fast officers were traveling has yet to be revealed. Police are saying very little about what happened.  The incident is currently under investigation.
