Northern Illinois University is launching a nationwide search for a new campus police chief, and hopes to have the new chief in place by the fall semester.

Former Police Chief Donald Grady was fired in February for his department’s alleged misconduct in a high profile rape case.

In March, the FBI carried out a search warrant that focused largely on the police department.

FBI agents seized files and copied computer hard drives, crime logs and dispatch records.
