Goats to graze among the runways at O’Hare
The next time you fly out of O’Hare airport keep your eyes open for the city’s newest lawn crew – a herd of goats.
The city’s Department of Aviation has hired the goats to graze on 120 acres grass and cut down on landscaping costs.
About 25 goats and their shepherd will start at the airport once there is enough grass to feed on.
They’ll be kept in secured, fenced areas away from runways.
The city says this pilot program is a more sustainable and natural way to control vegetation at O’Hare.
