Body of infant found at Chicago Ridge recycling plant

The body of an infant was discovered by an employee of a recycling plant Wednesday morning.

The discovery was made just after 4 a.m. at the RMC recycling plant in Chicago Ridge.

An employee found a “heavy” cooler on a conveyer belt, opened it, and found the body of a baby boy with a towel and the umbilical cord still attached.

Chicago Ridge police chief says they have been able to trace the origins of this delivery back to Advanced Disposal.

Advanced Disposal picks up in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and Waukegan, Illinois.

The Illinois State police are processing the scene and are now focusing their investigation in that northern Illinois and Wisconsin area.

The infant’s body was taken to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office and an autopsy will be performed Thursday.

This sickens me when so many women are trying desperately to get pregnant and have a baby, how can someone just throw away such a blessing from God…sick :( RIP sweet baby angel

To write about this without talking about the Baby Safe Haven law is tragic!
This is your chance to make a life or death difference in the future for the youngest, most vulnerable of all, a newborn baby. Maybe the next baby could be saved with your help.

The Baby Safe Haven law offers a safe, legal, option for a desperate parent in crisis. The law says a parent hand their unharmed baby, 30 days old or younger, to staff at a hospital, fire or police department. No questions asked.

If you or someone you know may be hiding a pregnancy or have a baby they don’t feel they can care for, call the national safe haven 24-hour crisis hotline 888-510-BABY (2229) for confidential help.

I don't understand why women can't figure out that there's such thing as a Safe Law where you can simply leave the baby at a fire station or hospital with NO QUESTIONS asked. Hell, leave it on someone's door step and doorbell ditch it FFS.
