3 Palatine teens accused of assaulting boy with ketchup bottle

Three teenagers in Palatine are accused of attacking a 12-year-old boy with a glass ketchup bottle during a home invasion and robbery.

17-year old Vanessa Mejia, 18-year-old Sendi Ocampo, and a 16-year old girl are in police custody.

A fourth person has not been caught.

Police say the boy was home alone when the teens came to his apartment, saying they needed to use the bathroom.

Once he let them in and turned his back, one of the teens struck him with a bottle.

Police say the teens stole jewelry and cell phones from the apartment.

First off, I believe in Illinois, a child underage of 13 is not to be left alone. Secondly, if you do happen to be left alone by your parent/guardian, DO NOT answer the door. Parents/guardians need to step up and protect their kids and teach them safety first. I pray he is okay and his wounds are not severe.
