Englewood teacher surprised with Golden Apple Award
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn kicked off the first of a series of visits to Chicago area schools Monday to present 2013 Golden Apple Awards for excellence in teaching.
Quinn surprised Katherine Dube with the award in her classroom at Team Englewood Community Academy. She was the first of 10 local teachers to get this year’s award.
It recognizes her effectiveness in the classroom and the results she gets from her students.
The award carries a $3,000 prize and six-months of free courses at Northwestern University.
