Mother of Boston bombing suspects spoke to older son about ‘jihad’
The mother of the Boston Marathon bombings suspects spoke to her older son, Tamerlan Tsarnaev about “jihad” in 2011.
Their conversation was overheard in a phone call secretly recorded by Russian officials. Authorities in the U.S. just learned about the conversation in the last few days and would not comment.
Another phone call the mother made to someone in Russia was also recorded and Russian authorities told the FBI that the mother and son were religious zealots. The FBI questioned the family and finding nothing suspicious, closed the case.
Meanwhile, the FBI has ended its search of a landfill near the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
They were reportedly looking for a laptop belonging to one of the brothers. FBI agents did not say if they recovered any evidence.
