The interstate was shut down for several hours overnight, after the tanker collided with two cars near Shrader and Watson Roads just after 8 p.m. Monday.
The driver of one of the cars was killed.
Their name has not been released.
Hazmat crews were called to the scene after the tanker started leaking ethanol.
All lanes of I-88 were shut down in both directions until about 2 a.m. Tuesday.
