* Neither the Giants nor the Cubs have allowed many runs to score via the home run ball this season. The Cubs have allowed only 5 off 44 runs via the home run, best in the majors. The Giants are second at 21.3%, 1o of 47 runs.

* Tim Lincecum has not been the same pitcher since the beginning of last year as he was in the previous five campaigns – 69-41 from 2007-11 and only 11-15 the last two seasons.

*In his last outing, Edwin Jackson allowed four runs in the first inning before settling down; that’s a problem that has plagued him for several years now. His ERA is 6.38 in the first inning, 3.72 afterward.

*Angel Pagan has six runs batted in this season, and he has made them count. He leads the majors with four GWRBIs.

*Starlin Castro is a career .331 hitter in April.
