Basic BBQ Sauce
2 cups Heinz Ketchup
1/2 cup dark brown sugar * (we prefer Dominos)
2 Tablespoons of cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons of molasses
1 teaspoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon of cracked black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 hits of Tabasco
Combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes, let cool and serve.
Once the base of your sauce is complete, you can toss in blueberries, cherries or your favorite seasonal produce for a subtle fruity flavor, or your favorite herbs and spices depending on your personal tastes.
For a sweet sauce, go for a Kansas City style sauce made from a ketchup base with molasses and brown sugar.
For a great beef compliment, opt for a spicier Texas style sauce that incorporates chili powders, cumin and chili flakes into a sweet base.
