One of two offenders involved in an armed robbery at a store in Logan Square has been arrested.

Chicago police have arrested 53-year-old Cornell Mack.

Mack has been charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery and discharge of a firearm.

The attempted armed robbery happened Tuesday evening at a store on the 2200 block of N. Western Ave.

The store is owned by 62-year-old Luis Quizhpe.

One of the thieves pointed a gun at Quizhpe’s brother in law before aiming at him and demanding cash.

That’s when Quizhpe fought back with a baseball bat.

The robber fired nine shots, hitting Quizhpe once in the thigh, narrowly missing a major artery.

One of them was shot in the leg and limped out of the store.

The investigation continues regarding an additional offender.
