PHOTOS: Bethlehem Star prays against gun violence

Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church was among the 250 churches across Chicago that met Friday at sundown to pray against youth gun violence.

In 2012 alone, Chicago experienced over 500 murders, a benchmark last reached in 2008.

DO any of these hand-holding events do any good – – except to make the people that attend feel like they're DOING something for the cause? If these groups had any sense they would turn in known gang members – -turn in crimes (many of them KNOW who did the crime) – and stand up and own the fact that black on black crime is one of CHicago's biggest problems.
And how about the family in Englewood that was beaten and tortured?? How about the Mich Ave incident last weekend?
I never see these SO CALLED leaders standing up and saying :yes – the black gangs are a problem and we are going to turn them in – not enroll them in basketball….All of these people are weak and cowards – the clergy as well – – If they had a backbone – the would DO THE RIGHT THING and not make stupid excuses!

Right on Kirby. Also reading the article above 500+ murders in a year is a benchmark? How about calling it a failure of your community!

  • You Are Clueless

kirby and Wisconsinite, do any of you live in the community? Have either of you invested in these communities? Do you know anything about the communities other than what you have read in the paper So if you are not part of the solution, you are also part of the problem. It maybe this community today, but it will be your community soon.
