Emergency crews are at a metals plant in Chicago Heights Thursday trying to recover the body of a worker who ended up in a mixer.
The facility is called “Vesuvius,” which produces cement-like materials for clients like power and steel plants.
A worker on the so-called “dry lines” wound up in one of the large mixers around 7 am. Some mixers have blades up to four feet long.
Chicago Heights police haven’t released any details about the incident.
The name of the victim hasn’t been made public. But, WGN’s Nancy Loo has learned from sources the victim was a great, hard working, family man who was with the company for about ten years.
