ADHD diagnoses on the rise

Medical GenericThe growing number of children being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 6.4 million American children and teenagers have received a diagnosis of ADHD at some point in their lives, including nearly one in five high school boys.

That’s a 53 percent increase over the last decade.

About two-thirds of those with a current ADHD diagnosis receive prescriptions for drugs like Ritalin and Adderall.
