Cubs win opener 3-1

The Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in their 2013 season opener at PNC Stadium Monday.

Cubs pitcher Jeff Samardzija was on top of his game, throwing eight shutout innings.

Other highlights include Anthony Rizzo hitting a 2-run homer in the first inning and Kyuji Fujikawa getting the save after Carlos Marmol ran into trouble in the ninth inning.

    Have followed the Cubs for years but afraid that is now ending. Reason (one word): Marmol. Once he is gone then we will be back.

    Do they just owe this guy , tons of money or what? I cannot believe that the Cubs brought him back , just to watch him try to pitch. This is bull s*#*
