A key witness in a murder retrial in McHenry County admitted to changing his story.
Mario Casciaro, 29, is on trial, for the second time, for the disappearance and presumed murder of 17-year old Brian Carrick who disappeared more than eleven years ago.
Casciaro’s first trial last year ended with a hung jury.
Shane Lamb testified that Casciaro had him beat up Carrick over an unpaid debt. Lamb said Casciaro told him he would take care of Carrick after he lost consciousness. . Lamb says he never saw Carrick again after that incident.
The defense says Lamb denied any involvement when he initially testified to the grand jury.
Lamb has been granted immunity for murder.
