New law to keep dogs out of the driver’s seat

Legislation is pending in Springfield that would keep dogs out of the driver’s seat.

State Representative Dan Burke of Chicago says he has seen a number of people driving with dogs on their laps and calls it a public safety concern.

Under Burke’s proposed law– getting caught with a pet in the driver’s seat would carry a $25 fine.

However the state rep does acknowledge that there are more serious issues on people’s minds, like the state’s financial crisis.

I guess as long as you have dumba sses stupid eough to do stuff like this, pets in you lap, texting while driving, etc. you're going to need a dumb law to go with it.

About time, these people care more about taking Fido for a ride than the do about potentially injuring someone due to lack of controlling their vehicle

Another new law from the wise old leaders from the nanny state of Madiganistan. What about applying makecup, watching your children in the back seat through the rear view mirror. Drinking coffee, now that would be a major distraction if spilled don't ya think?

What they should focus on are the front windows tinted so dark no one can see in. If you can't see in certainly they can't see out, especially at night. Maybe increasing the ticketing for drivers who fail to turn on lights when it's raining or snowing.
