Chicagoans take part in Good Friday activities

Thousands of people took place in Good Friday activities throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

Cardinal George gave a Good Friday blessing to his flock in Daley Plaza earlier in the day. The observance began with prayers and song.

Then several hundred people walked silently behind a tall, wooden cross, through the Loop north to Holy Name Cathedral.

In Pilsen, 5,000 people turned for the “Way of the Cross” procession.

Catholic parishes in the community and their faithful re-enacted Jesus’ path to crucifixion.

This year they dedicated the ceremony to urging congress to pass immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented people in the USA.
