7,000 Oklahoma dental patients urged to get HIV test
Seven-thousand patients of a dentist in Oklahoma are being told to get tested for several serious diseases.
Authorities in Tulsa found numerous health and safety violations at a dental practice where Dr. Scott Harrington worked as an oral surgeon.
Health officials say patients may have been exposed to HIV and Hepatitis “B” and “C”.
The head of the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry says Harrington also allowed unauthorized and unlicensed employees to perform IV sedation’s of patients.
Health officials say the transmission of diseases at the dentist’s office is low.
Dr. Harrington voluntarily stopped practicing when the investigation began, and he is cooperating authorities.
