Vanishing Cultures: Chicago photographer plans to take 35-foot camera on the road
On tonight’s WGN News at Five and Nine, I’m taking a closer look at Chicago photographer Dennis Manarchy and his 35-foot film camera. He believes it’s the largest portrait camera in the world, producing negatives that are six feet tall. The resulting portraits, some 20-30 feet in height, are incredibly detailed. Manarchy hopes to take the camera on the road as part of his Vanishing Cultures project, where they will photograph members of more than 50 American cultures.
The video will be posted here after it airs. You can read more about their project at TheVanishingCultures.com.
