Sheriff’s investigators search Gacy’s mother’s former home
Initial reports indicate no human remains were found in a search at the Northwest Side apartment building where serial killer John Wayne Gacy’s mother lived and Gacy once worked as a maintenance employee.
A spokesman for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says Dart and Sheriff’s investigators were at the property in the 6100 block of West Miami Avenue last Wednesday, May 20, along with FBI evidence response units and search dogs.
Searchers did some coring on the property inside the basement area and outside the home. Radar and infrared thermographic imaging were used to search the property.
Initial reports indicate no human remains were found. The Sheriff’s Depatment hopes to have he final reports in a couple of weeks.
The Sheriff’s Department returned to the Gacy case in 2011, when several skeletons of Gacy’s unidentified victims were exhumed in the hope that DNA could help identify them.
