Paul Johnson, on parole for residential burglary, is charged with using a screw driver to break into Lisa Kozial-Ellis’ Elgin’s townhouse and then stabbing her with it when he was confronted.
Kozial-Ellis lived three doors down from Johnson.
She and her husband moved in three days before she was murdered.
Elgin police say Johnson confessed to a friend of the break in and murder. That friend went to police.
34-year-old Johnson is being held on five million dollars bail. He faces 100 years in prison if convicted.
