Two high school football players from Steubenville, Ohio will serve time in jail for raping a 16-year-old girl.
A judge found Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond guilty of assaulting the girl while she was too drunk to resist, and videotaping the attack.
Both teens will serve at least a year in juvenile jail; Mays will serve an additional year for distributing nude pictures of the girl; and based on their behavior, both could remain in jail until age 21.
Ohio attorney general Mike DeWine says a state grand jury will convene to investigate whether additional charges are warranted.
The victim was not in the room when the ruling was handed down; but her mother read a statement saying the two boys lacked compassion and moral code.
There’s no decision yet on whether the victim’s family will file a civil suit.

How the hell can these animals receive a one year sentence in a youth center? They committed a horrible adult crime and should be punished as such. In a real prison I am sure that they would be treated as they treated their victim. I also pray that the Judge that gave them the slap on the wrist does not have any daughters because I am sure that they would be ashamed oh=f him for his lenient decision.

Alex- you're an idiot. The one that is serving 2 years is white. The one serving 1 year is black. Therefore you lack and validity. That being said, they were both initially charged as adults and that should have stuck because they need to be in a facility where they receive the type of treatment that the girl did.

he is serving two years for distributing the photos on the internet.
As difficult as it will be get those pictures taken OFF the internet (nearly impossible) … he should get MUCH MORE.
Where what he did may have been a youthful 'mistake' that he had the forethought to upload and 'share' photos from his act – negates any error. it becomes an intentional act. period.
they should have been tried as adults. I believe after they're 21, the record can be exponged.
