A Chicago lawyer who bought the internet domain name popefrancis.com three years ago wants the new pontiff to have it for free.
Chris Connors purchased the domain name for a couple of bucks as a lark in 2010.
He hoped that in his lifetime a pope would choose the name Francis.
Connors secretly wished it would have been Francis Cardinal George.
He contacted the Chicago Archdiocese, who passed the information to Cardinal George.
The cardinal called the news of the available domain “just delightful.”
Cardinal George says a Vatican official had already been considering domain names Pope Francis could use.
