Fatal crash jams rush-hour traffic on North Side

Traffic is moving again on Lake Shore Drive,  after a deadly crash caused major gridlock on the North Side during morning rush-hour.

Two men died and two other people were critically injured in the three-vehicle crash in the Southbound lanes near Diversey about 4 a.m. Friday, police said.

The crash closed Southbound Lake Shore Drive and traffic was diverted at the Belmont Avenue exit for more than five hours. The lanes were reopened by about 9 a.m., police said.

The wreck involved two SUVs and a Toyota car. Two men in their 20s in the same SUV were killed in the crash, police said.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but a witness told WGN one of the vehicles was speeding the wrong way north on Lake Shore Drive before accident.

Two people were taken in serious-to-critical condition and one was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the other person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Chicago Fire Department officials.

The city should start suing the drivers responsible for these crashes. If they died their families should have to pay for the cleanup.Hopefully the two guys killed were the ones who caused it.

Maybe you should wait to find out who caused the accident before making that statement !
