It’s called the Breathometer.
The Breathometer plugs into a smartphone through the headphone jack, and is able to test a person’s blood-alcohol concentration level. The Burlingame, Calif., company that makes the device said it’s as accurate as any other breathalyzer on the market.
“Breathometer wasn’t created just to address the risks associated with drinking and driving,” founder and Chief Executive Michael Yim told the Los Angeles Times, “but to help people, their friends and family, all to make smart and safer choices when consuming alcohol. Real-time BAC measurement is the first step.”
The Breathometer will ship out this summer, if the company can raise $25,000.
