A 19-year-old man was hospitalized this afternoon after being shot in the leg in the Winneconna Parkway neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened at 4:19 p.m. on the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The teen was shot in the leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized, Zala said. Fire Media said the person was transported in serious-to-critical condition.
The shooting occurred two blocks from Simeon Career Academy High School, 8147 S. Vincennes Ave.

The shooter must have missed his invitation to the basketball game for "troubled youth" – - These people aren't worth the publicity that they get – But, I have to admit – I look for these articles – Just to further my opinions….

Marie – It's sad that it's happening at all – to any race – and both races have their faults -but, if the black leaders would just stand up to the gang violence and not defend and blame others and society for what happens – Wouldn't that make more sense?? There are a lot of awful white people – many white peope are mass murderers – But, com'n – MOST of the killings in Chicago is black on black crime – and the black leaders should address it and correct it…How would Chicago be if all the gangbanging killers were locked up? Much better -right?
