Officer charged with criminally transmitting HIV
A Cicero police officer has been arrested and charged with “criminally transmitting HIV.”
Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced the charged yesterday against 38-year-old John Savage of LaGrange Park.
Cook County sheriff’s detectives were notified by LaGrange police about the incident that happened in July 2012, according to a statement.
The statement says a 24-year-old man told police “he and Savage went to a movie on July 29 and after the movie went to Savage’s home in LaGrange Park and engaged in sexual activity. Later, the victim inquired about Savage’s HIV status and Savage informed him he was HIV positive.”
