Funeral for baby killed in shooting set for next week

Funeral arrangements have been set for the baby who died after being shot earlier this week.

Pastor Cory Brooks, who has spoken for the victim’s family, tweeted tonight: “The Funeral arrangements for Jonylah Watkins are as follows: Tues March 19 2013 10am Wake 11am Funeral.”  The service will take place at Brooks’s church, New Beginnings Church, at 6620 S. King Dr, according to the tweet.

6-month-old Jonylah Watkins was shot multiple times Monday afternoon as her father changed her diaper inside a van. Police say the gunman blindsided his intended target, 25-year-old Jonathan Watkins.

The baby underwent several surgeries at Comer Children’s Hospital but died the next day.

Wow! 6 months old! As our children as born we look forward to them growing up, getting married, having children and living a full and healthy life. This is was unbeliveable and very hard to comprehend. I am truly sorry for the loss the parents must be feeling. Try to find comfort in the saying that, "God makes no mistakes".

To the Family of this dear child that was taken too early. Jesus said 'suffer little children and forbid them to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven' . May God give the mother, father and family the strength to believe and trust that the person who did this will have their judgement day.
